Kolkata A 49-year-old trader was found dead in Bhangor, South 24-Parganas, on Saturday morning. Kartick Karmakara, a resident of Dakshin Kalikapur in Bhangor, was returning home when miscreants attacked him with sharp-edged weapons, said a police officer.

His body was recovered from a nearby bush and his wallet and mobile phone were missing, added the officer. The deceased’s family members told police that he was carrying money for buying ornaments for his daughter’s marriage.

Alleging non-cooperation by the police, the deceased’s wife Anima Karmakara said: “When my husband did not return last night, we went to the Bhangor police station. Instead of lodging a DDR, they asked us to first search for him on our own and if needed, return the following morning.”
