Lucknow, March 1 The 17-year-old son of a businessman, Atul Agarwal, was reportedly kidnapped in the Hathras area on Friday evening. Agarwal lodged a kidnapping case with the Kotwali police today.

On Friday, Harsh reportedly told his family that he is going out with his friend Saurabh and would return soon. In his statement to the police, Saurabh said when they reached Awas Vikas Colony, Harsh asked him to wait while he went to meet a girl waiting for him across the road.

He said two youths reached the spot soon after and entered into an argument with Harsh. A couple of minutes later, Saurabh saw the four, including Harsh, leaving in an Alto.

“Saurabh told us that after half-an-hour, Harsh called him up and said he was fine. He also asked Saurabh to tell his parents that there was no need to worry,” said Inspector Dal Chand, Kotwali, Hathras.

At present, the police are looking for the girl who used to regularly call Harsh on his mobile phone. Sources said Harsh had met the same girl on Friday.

Prakash Dwivedi, Circle Officer of Hathras, however, said: “We have cross-checked all details about the girl on the basis of information given by Harsh’s friend. But it all turned out to be false.” Chand added Harsh’s family has not received any ransom call yet.
