The report card will have a student’s assessment recorded in four sections, including scholastic and co-scholastic areas and co-scholastic activities. There will be a self-awareness section, in which students can write about their goals, strengths, interests, hobbies and responsibilities. The report card will also carry remarks on students’ health, including oral hygiene, vision, weight, blood group and so on.
The scholastic areas will grade students on academic performance in different subjects, including languages, mathematics, social science and science. The overall grade of these areas will be calculated from the sum total of formative and summative assessment, which would be further given a percentile rank. For topics like work experience, art education and physical and health education, the Board has set descriptive indicators like aesthetic sensibilities, observational skills, leadership, team work, peer appreciation and so on.
The co-scholastic areas will evaluate students’ life skills, attitudes and values, which would take into consideration their thinking, social and emotional skills. While thinking skills will evaluate key areas like problem solving, decision making, critical and creative thinking; social skills will focus on effective communication, interpersonal relationships, ability to handle criticism etc. How well a student is able to manage his feelings and how adept he is in dealing with stress will be evaluated under emotional skills.
Respect towards teachers, schools, healthy rapport with peers, leadership qualities, honesty and integrity will also fetch grades under the CCE. The grades will be given on a five-point scale of A+ to C.
The section on co-scholastic activities will assess students’ participation and achievements in competitions like debates, declamation, dance, drama, science clubs and olympiads on a five point scale. It would also evaluate their participation in sports, NCC, NSS, scouting and guiding.
