Patiala, March 7 Traffic on the Patiala-Rajpura section of the state highway came to a standstill after the road was closed for the Guru Manyo Granth Jagriti yatra.

The yatra, which had started from Huzur Sahib in November last year, left Rajpura in the morning and reached Patiala late in the evening. Traffic on the busy Patiala-Rajpura road had to be diverted via Sirhind.

The district authorities earlier welcomed the yatra at Kauli near Rajpura. Thousands of worshippers thronged the yatra to have a look at the arms of Guru Gobind Singh.

Tomorrow would be another busy day as the yatra is scheduled to pass through the city to Nabha and Sangrur.

It would thereafter cross Barnala, Rajkot, Jagraon and reach Ludhiana on March 16 from where it would move to Malerkotla on March 18 and then to Khanna, Ropar and Anandpur Sahib to coincide its entry with the Hola Mahalla celebrations.

Thereafter, the yatra will move on to Una, Nawanshahr, Phagwara, Phillaur, Sultanpur Lodhi, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Mukerian, Pathankot, Jammu, Kathua, Gurdaspur and reach Dera Baba Nanak on April 30. It would go to Batala, Baba Bakala and finally reach Amritsar on April 13 on the occasion of Baisakhi.

The local authorities have made elaborate arrangements for a smooth passage of the yatra and made diversions of traffic during its passage.
