The traffic police in the state will don a new look from April 1. Instead of wearing their trademark white uniform, from now on, traffic constables will be wearing a blue-coloured uniform.

Director General of state police, Dr Vikram Singh, said: “While discharging their duties in adverse conditions, be it rain, dust, mud and pollution, the white uniforms become untidy very soon.”

Keeping in view all these circumstances, Singh had recently constituted a committee in the chairmanship of the additional director general of police to bring necessary amendments to the traffic police uniform code.

After several meetings in this regard, the committee recommended blue-coloured uniform for traffic constables.

While talking to The Indian Express, Inspector

General of Police, A K Jain, said all district police chiefs have been asked to ensure this change beginning April.
