Traffic police challan govt, cops’ private vehicles

New Delhi The Delhi Traffic police on Thursday challaned 46 government vehicles found using the BRT corridor. Out of these, 12 were vehicles of Indian Army officers and three private vehicles of policemen.

Of late, the traffic police have been targeting government and police vehicles flouting traffic rules, especially after it came to notice that the babus were using the free bus corridor, while other cars waited at traffic intersections.

On Wednesday, 672 government vehicles, including 19 of the Delhi Police, were challaned.

“The drive was conducted in the morning and evening hours, especially at places like CGO complex. Such drives have been conducted earlier also,” Rupinder Kumar, DCP Traffic (south), said. Last year, 2,800 government vehicles were challaned in the southern range.

Among the vehicles challaned on Wednesday, 19 were of the Delhi Police, including a senior IPS officer’s car, two police Gypsies, a Delhi Police bus and seven motorcycles.
