Training camp in vegetable gardening for armymen

Ludhiana, January 4 A training camp on vegetable gardening for army men kicked off at the Punjab Agricultural University here today According to an information provided by Dr Jagwant Singh Kanwar, head of the department of vegetable crops, a group of soldiers from the army unit at Dholewal are receiving training from the experts in vegetable-based nutritional gardening and organic farming.

The trainees are being provided with knowledge about nutritional gardens and practical tips for various vegetable growing operations. The trainees will be given guidelines to establish kitchen gardens in their units.

Dr Daljit Singh Khurana, incharge of teaching farm of vegetables at PAU, said that the army men attending the training camp were eager to know about the ways to grow vegetables organically and to cut down the use of pesticides. The training farm has a good collection of commercial as well as rare vegetablesand are serving as a resource material for teaching as well as training. The training will continue till January 15.
