New Delhi Nearly 70 trains were delayed due to heavy fog in the Capital. This included the Rajdhanis. Most trains were running several hours behind schedule inconveniencing passengers.

Northern Railways officials said around 14 trains were rescheduled out of the 70 delayed and nearly 10 were cancelled till December 31.

Heavy fog affected the schedule of the Rajdhanis on the Mumbai-Delhi, Howrah-New Delhi, Rajendra Nagar (Patna)-New Delhi and Bhubaneswar-New Delhi routes. These, however, were running only two to three hours behind schedule while the others were delayed by several hours.

“The trains are currently stranded at railways stations near Delhi,” a Northern Railway spokesperson said.

The long distance trains like the Gaya-New Delhi Mahabodhi Express, the Chennai Central-New Delhi Grand Trunk Express, the Allahabad-New Delhi Prayagraj Express, the Howrah-New Delhi Poorva Express and the Udhampur-New Delhi Uttar Sampark Kranti Express, were running late by over four hours.
