Deciding to take a ride on his own, without the company of Transport officials, Lovely drove through the corridor around 10 am, during peak rush hour and found that the traffic situation “has improved”. “I wanted to take a look at the corridor, given the amount of criticism our government has faced over it. I drove through the corridor and though there were glitches that I have pointed out to the Transport department, I think the traffic situation has improved since the corridor was first inaugurated,” Lovely said after a meeting with officials from his department and DIMTS.
As an alternative to the current model of the BRT, the government is now experimenting with a pilot project of extending the BRT from Moolchand to Delhi Gate, with the bus lane on the extreme left. While construction is still on, officials claimed that nearly 60 per cent has been completed.
