Kolkata, March 7 Retired employees of the Calcutta State Transport Corporation (CSTC) on Friday protested against the irregular payments of their pension money in the city.

Around 3,000 CSTC employees also submitted a deputation to the managing director of the corporation.

Amiya Mondal (77), who served the CSTC for 38 years from 1952 to 1990, led the protests. “In 2007, the Calcutta High Court had ruled in our favour that the CSTC should clear all our arrears and make regular payments of their pension amount. But even now, we face irregular payments. Sometimes it is deposited once in three months,” said Mondal.

They also demanded a raise in minimum pension — now is Rs 400 for CSTC employees. “But for other state corporations like Calcutta Tramways Company or North Bengal State Transport Corporation, the minimum is Rs 1300 per month. Why this discrimination?” Mondal asked.
