Mayor Kamlesh said that pooling of resources was the way forward. “We plan to set up a crisis management group. Any emergency that arises in the city, Panchkula, Mohali or Zirakpur would be tackled jointly. Other services like the fire service could also be shared. Zirakpur has offered to pay for the fire services on a monthly or yearly basis. They also have offered us land to set up the infrastructure for fire services. The entry points to Chandigarh would also be beautified,” she said.

She added that there are border disputes in the tricity that need to be sorted out. After a joint survey, recommendations would be made to the Administration.

The Panchkula Municipal Council, meanwhile, has offered to share its water resources. President Ravinder Rawal said, “We are building a dam over Ghaggar to channelise the water. In a few years, we would be able to spare 50 MGD of water that can we can be shared with the adjoining areas. Panchkula has a system of involving the residents for the development and maintenance of parks. We put forth this idea in the meeting and it was appreciated.”
