Kolkata Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee took legal initiative against CPM state secretary Biman Bose for his alleged defamatory comments against her during the rally at the Brigade Parade Ground.

Lawyers, on behalf of Banerjee, have sent a legal notice to Bose on Tuesday.

“Our lawyers have sent a legal notice to Bose. During the rally we have learnt that he has made derogatory and defamatory remarks against Banerjee. We are preparing to lodge a case against him,” said Mukul Roy, senior TMC leader, at a press conference at Banerjee’s residence in Kalighat on Tuesday.

“Bose should think before he says something. He said Banerjee is doling out money and questioned the source of the funds. Everyone knows that Banerjee sold her artwork and the money was used,” said Roy.

According to the TMC leader, Bose said that foreign reactionary forces and capitalist forces are pumping in money. Roy also stated that in 2001, a similar legal notice was sent to Bose, to which he had replied. “In 2001, he said through his lawyers that he never made defamatory comments against Banerjee,” added Roy.

On alliance with the Congress, Roy said, “Till now, we are going alone in the state.”
