Ludhiana On the fourth day of the transporters’ strike, members of the Ludhiana Transporters’ Association (LTA) protested by wearing black badges. From Friday, the protestors will go on a chain hunger strike till their demands are met, said Prithvi Raj, chairman, LTA.

Although the transporters claimed no trucks were plying, sources revealed that industrialists are dispatching their urgent orders by paying high prices.

At the markets for essential commodities, traders claimed they had enough stock to last 15 days, but if condition persists, prices of some goods could go up. Members of PHD chamber, however, alleged truck associations are not allowing private vehicles of industrialists to meet export orders. R S Sachdeva, vice-chairman of the chamber, urged the government to reach a solution at the earliest so that businesses do not suffer anymore.
