During the four-day event, being organised by the city administration, in association with the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), renowned national and international movies will be screened at various venues like Fun Republic and Batra theatre, said an official spokesman.
In the international category, two Hungarian films, one Italian, one Austrian, one Iranian and one from the Netherlands will be screened. The remaining 14 will include nine Hindi movies, four children's films and one animated movie. The international films will be shown once, while two screenings will be held of each Hindi film, and one each of the children and animated films.
CII will also organise a conference and an animation workshop on February 2. According to officials, prominent film personalities like Yash Chopra, Shyam Benegal, Anupam Kher and M.S. Sathyu will be present during the festival.
The Special Committee for the Film Festival, comprising Dr. Rani Balbir Kaur, Dr. Shastri Ramachandran, Kamal Tiwari, Dr. Amrit Bolaria and Bela Sehgal, is regularly meetings for the conduct of the festival.
Earlier, it was decided to organise the event on the pattern advised by the Chandigarh Tourism Advisory Forum chaired by noted filmmaker Yash Chopra with Raj Kanwar, Suneel Darshan and Anupam Kher as its members. The UT Administrator, Gen. (Retd.) S. F. Rodrigues had announced during the first film festival held last year that it would be an annual feature henceforth.
