Two arrested with cash worth Rs 18 lakh

Lucknow, February 29 The Government Railway Police arrested two persons, Pappu and Sajjad, with cash worth Rs 18.58 lakh on Friday morning. Both residents of Azamgarh, they were on their way from New Delhi in the Kafiyat Express when they were arrested from the train.

Pappu and Sajjad maintained that the money belonged to their friend Monu alias Muzaiddin, who is in New Delhi. Monu had requested them to hand over the money to his family in Azamgarh, they added.

When the police contacted Monu, he admitted that the money belonged to him. The police, however, refused to accept their claim and booked Pappu and Sajjad under 41/411 of the Indian Penal Code. Police teams have been sent to New Delhi and Azamgarh for further probe.
