A 35-year-old TV channel employee was killed when the scooter he was travelling on hit an unknown vehicle in front of him in the Hazrat Nizamuddin area of Southeast Delhi on Monday.
The police said the accident was reported around 11.30 pm. Manoj Kumar, a resident of Kaka Nagar, was working in a Noida-based TV channel. The police said Manoj was returning home from office at the time. “It seems he was speeding and the vehicle in front of him probably applied the brakes suddenly, and Manoj rammed into it from behind,” the police said.
“At first instance, it appears the victim could have died due to severe head injuries,” police officers said. The police said the matter came to light when a passer-by made a PCR call regarding a man lying unconscious on the road.
In the second accident, a 30-year-old man was crushed to death by a truck in the Kanjhawala area of Outer Delhi on Tuesday. The police said the accident was reported around 9 am from in front of Haryana Shakti School, when the victim, Kuptan Singh, was crossing the road.
His body has been sent to hospital for a post-mortem, and the police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
Elsewhere, four persons, all resident of Sonepat in Haryana, received injuries when the Santro they were travelling in collided with a Tata 407 in the Bawana area of Outer Delhi on Monday night. The police said the accident took place in front of MD School, when the victims were returning to Sonepat after visiting a friend in Kanjhawala. All four were discharged after first aid.
The police have registered a case against the tempo driver, Suraj Tiwary, and have arrested him. Further investigations are on in the matter.
