Two Delhi lifters for youth national camp

New Delhi, January 7 On the strength of their performances in the recently-concluded national competition in Imphal, two Delhi lifters, Gaurav Dubey and Manjit Singh, have been included in the national coaching camp in preparation for the Pune Youth Commonwealth Games.

The Delhi players are among 31 lifters including 16 in the women’s section selected for the national camp beginning from January 17 in Patiala.

Dubey, who had narrowly missed the Asian junior championships in 2007, recently gave a good account of himself in both senior and junior national competitions.

The camp will be held under the supervision of foreign coach Magad Salama.

Lifters in the men’s group are from as many as 11 states, but the majority of the players in the women’s section happen to be from from Manipur and Andhra Pradesh.
