Allahabad Mobs went on rampage in Allahabad and Kaushmabi districts, where two persons, one of them a schoolgirl, died in separate road accidents on Wednesday.

In the first incident, a 16-year-old girl, Shraddha Mishra, died while on way to school when a speeding truck mowed her down on the Allahabad-Kanpur national highway. She was going on her bicycle when an auto-rickshaw hit her from behind and she fell on the road. Before she could get up, the truck crushed her. She died on the spot. Shraddha was a student of Puramufti Public School.

The locals went on a rampage after the incident and damaged over half-a-dozen auto-rickshaws and some other vehicles. They blocked the national highway for hours and demanded arrest of the truck and auto drivers. A heavy police contingent was called in to control the situation. Later, Additional Superintendent of Police Swami Prashad reached the spot and assured the people of action against the culprits.

At Katkapur village, meanwhile, a jeep hit a bike causing the death of Kaushalendra Yadav (30). His sister, Phulo Devi, was also injured and was admitted to a nearby hospital.

Following the incident, a mob burnt a jeep and damaged other vehicles at Meja Road in Allahabad.

The agitated locals blocked the road for four hours. District Magistrate Rajiv Agrawal and senior police officers immediately reached the spot to control the mob.
