Rajkot Two persons died and several others injured in an explosion at the hydrogen plant of the Reliance Petroleum’s newly commissioned refinery at Moti Khavdi in Jamnagar around 7.30 pm on Wednesday.

The explosion occurred at the new refinery, which was inaugurated on December 25.

Several people are reported to have been injured in the explosion, but there has been no official confirmation about their number. “Two persons have been killed in an explosion which occurred at the hydrogen plant, which is a utility for the crude oil refinery,” said sources.

“Two employees were seriously injured and succumbed to their injuries on the way to hospital. All refining related operations in the RIL plant and the recently commissioned export-oriented RPL refinery continue normally. We are investigating the cause of the accident,” said a Reliance spokesperson.
