Kolkata Two persons have been arrested for allegedly trying to molest a woman after they locked her in a room in Patuli. The third accused in the case is, however, still absconding. They were produced at Alipore court on Tuesday and sent in judicial custody for 14 days.

Abdul Rahim, Raju Ojha and Bapi Halder had allegedly called the victim, who works as an insurance agent in a private company, to a flat near central club of Patuli to finalise their investments on Sunday.

In her complaint lodged with the police, the 24-year-old woman said that the trio had told her that they planned to invest in some insurance policies and asked to her come at Rahim’s flat in connection with the investments.

“From the moment the girl entered the flat, they began misbehaving with her and also forced her to consume alcohol,” said an officer of the Jadavpur police station.

According to the complaint lodged with the police, she jumped from the terrace of the flat to escape molestation. Locals noticed it and informed the police. The woman was critically injured and rushed to a private nursing home in Ekbalpore. While Rahim and Ojha were arrested on Monday, Halder is still absconding.

The victim, a resident of Nadia, used to stay at a flat in Santoshpur in south Kolkata and had been managing all by herself for the past 10 years.
