Surat Two labourers died and as many were injured when their tractor loaded with iron angles overturned and fell into a canal near Ugadh village in Rander on Saturday afternoon.

According to the police, the tractor belonged to one Kunal Constructions and was on its way to a site at Paal village in Rander from Jehangirpura when the mishap occurred. The driver apparently lost control over the steering, resulting into the accident.

Passersby and locals immediately informed the fire brigade and local police, who rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. All three labourers onboard and the driver were rushed to the New Civil Hospital, where two of them were declared dead on arrival. Diver Nathulal Jadav and another labourer Dashrat Sharma sustained minor injuries. The deceased were identified as Kapildev Singh (35) and Chhotelal Prasad (30), both residents of Mora Bhagal near Subhash Garden in Rander.

Rander police Sub Inspector M V Shirke said: “The labourers belong to Bihar. Something might have gone wrong in the front wheel of the tractor, as a result of which the vehicle overturned. Overloading might also have caused the accident. Investigations are on.”
