Jalandhar will have two more sewage treatment plants, one on Ludhiana road and another on the road to Kapurthala. A wide network of trunk sewage lines and lateral pipelines lines have also been planned for efficient sewage infrastructure. The project is expected to cost Rs 95 crore, for which the Central share has been sanctioned. A meeting of the state-level sanctioning committee under the chairmanship of D.S. Bains, Principal Secretary, Local Bodies, Punjab, was held on February 10 for the purpose. Pending projects for water supply and sewage schemes in seven other townships. The total amount to be spent will be nearly Rs 450 crore.
