Vadodara The Sayajigunj police busted a fake currency note racket at the Fatehgunj area on Tuesday, and arrested two Nepalese nationals. They also recovered fake currency note with a face value of Rs 128,500.

The two accused, identified as Harendra Gaud (41) and Saddam Ansari (22) who resided in the Fatehgunj area, had purchased some stuff from provisional stores located in the same area, allegedly using fake currency note.

Sayajigunj police Inspector D N Zala said they had received a tip-off that fake notes were being circulated at Fatehgunj and Sayajigunj, following which they made an inspection. During a raid on their residence, the police recovered 249 notes of Rs 500 denomination and four of Rs 1000 denomination.

According to the police, an unidentified Nepalese national had given the fake currency notes to the duo. “We are interrogating the accused to find out the third person involved in the matter,” said Zala.
