Ludhiana Range DIG Ishwar Singh set the poppy husk on fire to destroy it. Rupnagar SSP P K Sinha, SP (D) Ashish Chaudhary and Ludhiana SP (D) Gurdeep Singh were also present.
While talking to mediapersons, Singh said the poppy husk had been destroyed as per the orders of the court. He said the police had launched a campaign against drugs and narcotic substances being trafficked in Ludhiana and a Narcotic Control Centre had been set up in the districts.
He appealed to the people to provide information regarding drug traffickers and anyone having information regarding such persons could directly contact him on his mobile phone, 98761-167900, or the concerned SSPs.
In reply to a question, he said that more than 600 posts of police personnel including Constables, Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors were vacant in Ludhiana Police range
Rupnagar SSP P K Sinha, who was also present on the occasion, informed that the police stations in the district were being computerised and training was being provided to the police personnel for this purpose.
He said the facility of registering FIR through computer would be available within one month.
