Two witnesses depose in graft case against Badal

Patiala, January 3 Two prosecution witnesses of the corruption case against Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, his wife Surinder Kaur Badal and son Sukhbir Singh Badal got their statements recorded during the hearing of the case in the court of Special Judge Rupnagar GS Saran today.

Prosecution witnesses branch manager of Oriental Bank of Commerce, Maharana Partap Chowk, Karnal, Gurinder Singh Brar and retired DSP Darshan Singh stood by their earlier statements in their deposition. The court had summoned six prosecution witnesses today.

Four other witnesses Bharat Shah, DSP (Vigilance) Jaspal Singh, Kuldeep Singh and RK Chohan could not depose today due to non-service of summons to them.

Prosecution witness Darshan Singh was posted as DSP, EO Wing, Vigilance Bureau in July, 2003. He, under the supervision of SP Vigilance Bureau J S Kahlon along with other members of police force and member of the technical team, had visited the Balasar farm of the Parkash Singh Badal on July 17, 2003 and as per the orders of the court conducted search and videography of the farm on July 17 and 18, 2003.

However, during the search no incrimating articles were recovered. The second prosecution, Gurinder Singh Brar, stated that he had delivered the attested copies of vouchers, statement of account and account opening form with regard to the account of Raghubir Inder Singh of village Mira Ghati Karnal, account of Sampuran Singh Kaur and the account of Raghujit Singh to DSP vigilance to vide letter dater August 10, 2003.
