Tyre mechanic, accomplice, arrested for puncturing tyres

Pune The Pune police have arrested two persons, including a tyre mechanic, red-handed while they were throwing nails on the road near Methodist Church in Khadki on Thursday evening.

The arrested have been identified as Pravin Ashok Deshmukh (25) of Bopodi and Bharat Arun Navghan (28) of Bopkhel. The police said that Deshmukh runs a tyre repair shop at Bopodi. According to them, Deshmukh and Navghan have been involved in puncturing the tyres of vehicles passing through the roads near his shop for the past two years , so that the former earns money by repairing the punctured vehicles.

A couple of years before, following the complaints from citizens, the Khadki police had taken action against a 13 tyre repairing shop owners on the Pune – Mumbai road, including Deshmukh. The incidents of tyre punctures on the Pune- Mumbai road however went on rising significantly. Police were receiving a lot of complaints from the angry citizens who were suffering from the tyre puncture problem.

During interrogation, cops recovered about 1 kg of nails from the duo.
