The championship which is co-sponsored by Tata Motors will kick start on February 7 at the Tata Motors Grounds and Varroc Dilip Vengsarkar Cricket Academy grounds. The Tournament shall continue for nine days, with seven matches being played.
The inauguration ceremony will be held at the Varroc Dilip Vengsarkar Cricket Academy ground.
‘Thakurdas Wadhwani Memorial U-14 Cricket Trophy’ will be two days matches played with adherence to the international rules and standards.
The six teams will be divided into two groups and the matches will be played on league cum knockout basis. Each team will play with all the teams in their respective groups, implying at least two games per side, followed by finals. Heavyweight sides like MCA XI, Cadence Academy, PCMC’s Varroc Vengsarkar Academy, Deccan Gymkhana, Poona Club & PDCA will be the teams to watch out for in the championship. Apart from the winners and runner-up prizes ‘Thakurdas Wadhwani Memorial U- 14 Cricket Trophy’ will see best batsman, best bowler, best fielder and man of the series awards being presented with a trophy. There will also be a man of the match trophy declared for each of the matches played. Tournament director Raju Kotwal said the main objective behind organising this tournament is to give a radical uplift to the enthusiasm and seriousness among the budding talent in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area.
