Watch out as celebs get set to con you!

It's a Rakhi Sawant you have never seen before. She’s plump, wears huge glasses and dresses only in pucca Indian ensembles. It’s like a new avatar. In fact, the idea is that you don’t recognise her! Moreover, she’s headed out to con people on the street and isn’t alone in her aim of doing so! Joining Rakhi are a host of celebrities who are all contestants on a first of its kind show on Indian television called ‘Arre Deewano Mujhe Pehchano’ on Star Plus. The list of celebrity contestants includes actors Mandira Bedi, Shweta Keswani, Gulshan Grover, Divya Dutta, Yash Tonk, Mona Singh and director-actor Mahesh Manjerekar. And each of them has put on a disguise to play a prank on the common man out there. “The show will bring in not just disguises but a range of stand-up acts as well,” informs a representative from the show. To add to the list of first-times, merging media and technology the channel has brought in an animated and interactive character called ‘Gadhashri’ who will dole out special comments on the performances. “We are calling them ‘vishesh tippani’,” the representative adds. To add to the excitement, there will be internal voting among the celebrities in which each one chooses the best act and crowns the celebrity who has performed the act as ‘Sabse Bada Behrupiya’.

To get you an idea of what the undercover celebs will be up to, here are a few examples. Gulshan Grover’s plays a prank as a casting director who gets a girl who walks in for an audition to dance, emote and perform action stunts all in one go! Further on Mona Singh plays a fat lady who wants her husband to look like John Abraham while Yash Tonk disguises as a police officer and harasses a young boy accusing him of being drunk! That’s not all. Divya Dutta plays a prospective bride and cons a man desperately wanting to get married, Mandira Bedi dresses up as a fan of a popular actor and then embarrasses him; Mahesh Manjrekar will have viewers in splits as he poses to be an old patient who recites boring poetry to his grandson’s girlfriend and gets a massive heart attack. The distressed girlfriend has to deal with the situation alone. The hugely popular Rakhi Sawant will play a twisted mother-in- law tied in handcuffs who fools a salesperson in a store. Sounds like a lot of fun? Tune in every Friday and Saturday at 10 pm on Star Plus and find out.
