Ludhiana An unidentified body was found near the Sherpur chowk on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased, whose body bore injury marks, seems to have been in his mid-40s. His body was found from a vacant plot on the Daba Road near Sherpur. The residents had spotted the man with his wounds roaming in the area and reported the matter to the police. Before the police could arrive, the man breathed his last.

Vikramjit Singh, in-charge of the Sherpur police post told mediapersons that apart from blood oozing out from the deceased’s head, the face of the deceased man had some injury marks and bruises.

He said a police team has been sent to the nearby areas to trace the identity of the accused.

The police are probing all possible angles to ascertain the cause of death.The body has been sent to the Civil Hospital where a post-mortem would be conducted on Sunday.
