Jalandhar Union Industries Minister Ashwani Kumar on Monday said the BJP was acting as an opportunist by flaring up the issue of the removal of Election Commissioner Naveen Chawla. Talking to mediapersons here today, he asked why the BJP had withdrawn the original petition against Chawla? About the talks of his contesting from the Gurdaspur parliamentary constituency, he said if the Congress high command gives him a chance, he would go ahead. He said terrorism and economic slowdown would be the main election issues for the UPA government. He claimed that the UPA had brought inflation rate down from 12 per cent to 5 per cent, and soon an industrial package would be announced for small-scale, sports and medium export industry.
