UP to face Maharashtra in Indira Gandhi cricket final

Lucknow, January 4 Hosts Uttar Pradesh defeated Andhra Pradesh by six wickets while Maharashtra defeated West Bengal by eight wickets in their last league encounters to set up a title clash against each other in the All India Indira Gandhi Priyadarshni Memorial Women’s Cricket Tournament.

Batting first after winning the toss, Andhra Pradesh scored 75 runs losing all its wickets in 32.2 overs. P Radhika (24) and NP Madhuri (19) were the main run-getters. Vaishali Tyagi took three wickets while Farhat Jaha and Naina Verma took two wickets each. Priya Sachan and Khushboo took apiece each.

In reply, Uttar Pradesh romped home after attaining the set mark in 17.5 overs with six wickets to spare. On behalf of Andhra Pradesh, J Padma took two wickets while Sudharani and Aruna took a wicket each.

The second match was also a one sided battle. Electing to bat first after winning the toss, the West Bengal scored 111 runs losing eight wickets in the stipulated 30 overs. Opener Sujata Sinha with 44 was the main contributer to the team total. Tanvi Takne bowled exceedingly well and took three crucial wickets giving away 1 runs in his six over spell while Parvati Bakle and Dipali Bamne took one wicket.

In reply, Maharashtra romped home after attaining the set mark in 18.2 overs with eight wickets to spare, thanks to responsible batting performances by Sonali (36), Varsha Dhavle (28 not out) and Parvati Bakle (20 not out).
