The final decision will be taken at a traffic advisory committee meeting to be held on March 10. Mayor Pardeep Chhabra raised the issue with the UT Finance Secretary Sanjay Kumar today.

“After the coordination committee meeting, the issue was discussed with the Finance Secretary, who has agreed to consider the demand for the installation of traffic light. Now, the final decision will be taken in the traffic committee headed by Finance Secretary himself on March 10,” said Chhabra.

The decision to close the small rotary at the intersection of Sector 34 and 35 had evoked sharp criticism from various associations who alleged the closure has affected them. They had even threatened to launch a stir in case administration fails to install traffic lights.

After its closure, the members of Chandigarh Defence Colony Welfare Association, Traders Association Sector 35-C, Traders Association Sector 35-B and the Traders Association Sector 35-C (Inner Market), led by Chhabra, had met Kumar on Friday to discuss the issue.
