UT to increase monetary grant to gallantry awardees

Chandigarh Announcing an increase in monetary grant for gallantry awardees and other medal winners, as applicable in the state, the Punjab Governor and UT Administrator General S F Rodrigues (Retd), inaugurated the Civil-Military Liaison Conference at the Army headquarters in Chandimandir on Wednesday.

He also said that the Administration is in the process of issuing a notification in this regard.

The conference was attended by Lt Gen T K Sapru, ADC, Goc-in-C, Western Command, Lt Gen A N Aul, Chief of Staff, Headquarters, Western Command and senior officers of the Chandigarh Administration including UT Advisor Pradip Mehra, Home Secretary Ram Niwas and Finance Secretary Sanjay Kumar.

Lt Gen T K Sapru highlighted the objective of the conference — to coordinate and synergise joint efforts to ensure peace and security in the region. He expressed gratitude to the Chandigarh Administration for upgrading the professional capacities and skills of soldiers through computer programmes. Sapru also said that they would be sending senior army officers to motivate the youth for joining the armed forces in various colleges and assured a recruitment rally in UT soon.

Various issues of infrastructure development and maintenance of Sector 31 and 47, implementation of the reservation policy and improvement of the approach road to 3BRD and an additional bus service to Chandimandir were also discussed.
