According to sources in the police, Parmar had earlier been charged with grabbing a piece of land worth over Rs 6 crore.
On Saturday, Parmar was sent to judicial custody after his arrest for allegedly building a society illegally in Kotharia, located in the outskirts of Rajkot and selling the same.
Now, he faces charges of producing fake documents for 1,300 square metres land in Malaviyanagar where exists a police station.
The Rajkot district collectorate had handed over the land in question to the Rajkot city police in 1993.
A police complaint in this regard was registered against Parmar by the office of Abhilekhagar (state archive) under Section 467(a) of the Indian Penal Code, pertaining to forgery.
The case, in which the role played by Rajkot Municipal Corporation officials is likely to come under the scanner for issuing fake documents, has been investigated by the CID (Crime).
In 1998, Parmar had made his claim over the same piece of land, producing documents issued by the RMC. In 2001, he obtained a stay order from the Gujarat High Court to stop construction of the Malaviyanagar police station, whose original building in Ramnathpara Lines was destroyed in the January 2001 earthquake.
The HC lifted the stay in 2002, which paved the way for construction of the police station. Meanwhile, he had also obtained a stay on criminal proceedings against him, which was lifted by the high court in 2008.
Top police officials say the investigation into this case is likely to reveal several unanswered questions, including the role played by the top RMC officials who issued Parmar some document to prove his rights on the land.
