Patiala, January 4 The Punjab Vigilance Bureau here today presented a challan against Bharat Inder Singh Chahal, media adviser to former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh in the court of Sessions Judge Inderjit Singh in the disproportionate assets case.

Vigilance officials have claimed in the challan that Chahal, during his tenure as the media advisor, had raised assets worth Rs 10 crore whereas his total income during that period was 1 crore. "There is no legitimate source from where this money could have been raised, so we found it appropriate to mention it in our challan," said a vigilance official.

The VB has also named 10 other accused in the case, which include Chahal's son Bikramjit Singh, wife Jaswinder Kaur, Dr Parveen Puri, Surjit Singh and Bhupinder Singh of Barsat village, Gursharan Singh and Jasbir Singh, both of Kamalpur village in Ludhiana, Gurmeet Singh, a USA resident, Jaswinder Pal Singh of Delhi and Aman Sethi from Chennai.

Patiala Vigilance SSP Shiv Kumar said they have done detailed investigations, which were now in the court. Vigilance officials said during investigation, it was learnt that the other accused were used for buying and selling property whose beneficiary was none else than BIS Chahal. "It is now a sub-judice matter and there is nothing more we can say," they added.
