Elsewhere in the city, Akhil Bharthiya Vidyarthi Parishad took out a protest march to “instil cultural values and patriotism” among youngsters. About 60 ABVP activists took part in the march that began at the Arts Faculty, Delhi University.
“We have no problem with lovebirds. But they need to have more love for the country,” Ashutosh Srivastava, pradesh mantri of ABVP, said. The protesters lectured students on patriotism and sang patriotic songs with a band marching with them playing music.
Earlier, the Delhi unit of the Sri Rama Sene had asked its activists to “keep a close watch on lovebirds”.
However, no untoward incident was reported in the Capital. “Elaborate security arrangements have been made to avoid any eventuality. Patrols have been intensified, while men in uniform, civil clothes and women policemen are keeping vigil,” Delhi Police spokesperson Rajan Bhagat said.
