Chandigarh, March 6 Even a fortnight after a tea vendor, Babulal, in colony number 5 was brutally assaulted by a few inebriated men who bit off his ear, the police have not yet taken cognisance of Babulal’s complaint.

The hapless tea vendor is making rounds of the Sector 34 police station for the last five days after he was discharged from the PGI after plastic surgery.

Pointing to his bandaged ear, Babulal said the incident occurred on February 21 when two of his neighbours — Manoj and Bhura — beat him up after creating a ruckus near his house.

“They first abused me and then Manoj, who was completely drunk, bit my left ear. They also hit me on the head,” said Babulal. He was rushed to GMCH 32 and was then referred to the PGI.

“I first told the PGI police post about the incident, where I was told to lodge a formal complaint at the Sector 34 police station. Although I am in a lot of pain, I go there everyday. But the the police keep shoving me out and ask me to come the next day,” he rued.

SHO of the Sector 34 police station could not be contacted for comments as his phone was switched off.

The UT Superintendent of Police S S Srivastava did not answer his phone.

DSP South Jaswant Singh expressed ignorance on the issue and said: “You send the person to me tomorrow and action will be taken.”
