In a characteristically tough stand, the VHP has demanded revocation of the government concession given to the Haj pilgrims. They have also urged the people for an economic blockade on Kashmir's goods if a land is not immediately transferred back to the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) in Jammu and Kashmir.
Gujarat VHP president Dilip Trivedi said, "Muslims should respect the religious sentiments of the Hindus and ask the Jammu and Kashmir government to transfer the land back to the SASB."
The VHP has requested the people to keep their businesses and offices closed tomorrow. Schools and colleges across the state have also been asked to remain close.
The Kashmir Valley had been on the boil for the last 10 days over the state government's decision to transfer 40 hectares of forestland that falls in the route of the yatra to the shrine board.
On Tuesday, the government cancelled the transfer and gave it to the Tourism department, which has now been entrusted with the task of making arrangements for the Amarnath pilgrims.
