Halol, August 21 The riot-affected people of Halol village have urged the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to facilitate the registration of their colonies. Over 150 rehabilitated

families told the visiting members of the NHRC that the nagarpalika had not registered their land.

One of the members of Antarik Visthapit Hakk Rakshak Samiti, said: “We have been pleading to the nagarpalika for the development of our colonies. We do not have electricity and proper drinking water supply. Even the hand pump in our colony is not functional now. We have been demanding a solution to our problems for several years, but to no avail.” The committee looks after the problems of the rehabilitated colonies of Halol village.

The mamlatdar of Halol said: “The land under which the relief committees have constructed the houses for the riot victims are for agricultural purpose. And before the nagarpalika decides to convert the same into a non-agricultural land, it has to prepare a layout and hand over the same to the Revenue Department. Unless the status of the land is changed, we cannot do much.”

The major rehabilitated colonies in Halol village are Haji Majid Kaka Cooperative Housing Society, Falahe-Aam Relief Committee and Sanjari.
