HISAR, February 4

People dissatisfied with the functioning of government officials under the Right to Information (RTI) Act will soon get their grievances redressed through video conferencing without having to grease the palms of officials concerned.

Besides, their grievances will be resolved at the district level without having to visit information commissioners having their offices at the state headquarters.

Stating this here after the conclusion of a two-day workshop organised jointly by Guru Jambheshwar University and two NGOs on the varsity premises, Deputy Secretary of Central Information Commission Dr Pankaj Shreyashkar said video conferencing to resolve grievances under RTI will be made available through National Informatics Centre through its head offices at the district level.

Expressing concern over the delay in providing information sought under RTI, he said officers responsible should change their attitude as RTI Act was aimed at transparency in the functioning of the government. Every person has the right to know the status of the work being undertaken in their respective areas, he asserted. This workshop was attended by 125 delegates from different parts of the state.
