Ludhiana Residents of Gidarpindi village today held a dharna outside the Model Town Extension Gurdwara to protest Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee chief Avtar Singh Makkar, for the alleged takeover of a gurdwara in their village. The villagers said some members of the managing committee had falsely complained to SPGC chief Makkar about mismanagement in a gurdwara in their village, following which, the SGPC had taken control over it. They said they had built the gurdwara and demanded their rights back. The protest was later called off after Makkar assured them to appoint a committee of five SGPC members to look into the matter.
