First it was Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit who asked scientists and biologists to create a ‘nature trail’ in her garden, one with a bat cave and a habitat for sparrows. This year, President Pratibha Patil went a step ahead with a bigger ‘nature trail’ in the President’s estate. The area, which runs on zero-plastic waste concept, includes a pond ecosystem, a wetland ecosystem, butterfly corner, ber tree grove, mango orchard, peacock point, composting pit, vineyard, temperate fruit orchard, jackfruit tree grove, cicada point, and biofuel plants like jatropha and karanj.
