Residents of Block C-1 and C-2 in Vasant Kunj have been dealing with dirty sewerage water flowing from their taps for almost ten years now. With the area’s drain passing through Masoodpur Dairy at present, sewage from the area gets mixed in the water supply before it reaches residents. The problem becomes even more acute during the monsoon season.

Recently, due to blockage in a drain in the area, residents of the area had complained of receiving water mixed with cow dung from their taps.

“There is already a drain in the area, but it flows through the Masoodpur Dairy towards these Vasant Kunj blocks. The new drain that we are building will be 3 km-long and will divert the sewage from Masoodpur towards Aravalli,” a senior member in DDA’s engineering department said.

At the bio-diversity park, the authority will construct chambers for separating the sewage from the water before allowing clean water to move forward.

“Dirty water will be diverted to the Biodiversity Park where the cow dung, upon separation, can also be used as a natural fertilizer,” said Neemo Dhar, Director, Public Relations, DDA.
