Vadodara Following widespread complaints from several areas of the city about the mosquito menace, the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has initiated preventive measures.

The mosquito menace has been reported in several areas like Fatehgunj, Sayajigunj, Tandalja, Vasna, Navi Dharti and the slums located on the banks of the Vishwamitri.

VMC Commissioner M K Das said: “The complaints about the mosquito menace have definitely increased and we have sent medical teams to different areas to monitor the situation. Fogging has also been intensified in the affected areas.”

He said the problem is more in the areas from where the river is passing through.

“Though the Vishwamitri cleanup project is going on, but until it is completed, the mosquito problem will continue.”

On their part, the health officials have said that complaints related to the mosquito menace are a routine affair during this period of the year.

“Fogging is undertaken, but the complaints are in large numbers and the manpower and equipment is limited. It is practically not possible to move in each and every bylane of the city and undertaking fogging,” said a senior health official.
