Choksi was elected to the erstwhile Baroda municipality in 1961 to 1966 and presided over it till it was converted to a municipal corporation. He was also instrumental in introducing several civic amenities in the city, like the formation of power sub stations, updating of power lines, and also starting the primary municipal schools in the city.
