According to the Alipore meteorological centre, the normal temperature around this time hovers around 13 degree Celsius but this year it has stood at 18 degrees.
The weathermen cites the western disturbances for the warm conditions as it has led to the formation of dense fog in the city in the last couple of days. Sumit Kumar Das, assistant meteorologist, said that dense fog will disappear and people can enjoy chilly weather after two days.
He added that every winter some systems are formed in the Atlantic Ocean which approach towards the eastern states of India. If no such disturbances appear in the next two days, the sky will become clearer, he added.
Meanwhile, the prevailing dense fog affected train and air services. On Thursday, weather improved as there has been no report of delays in air and rail services.
