Chandigarh Tenders for ‘premium parking’ at the Chandigarh railway station were floated on Thursday. While some area will be reserved for premium car parking and for the physically-challenged, the parking at the station will also be extended with the widening of the entry road.

“The concept of premium parking has been taken from a few railway stations in the metros. The Railways has earmarked space for 25 cars under the premium parking near the entrance gate of the railway station. The area was being used as an unauthorised parking lot and to discourage this practice, premium parking is being introduced,” said Divisional Railway Manager H K Jaggi. Visitors will have to shell out Rs 25 to park their car in this area. Reserved parking for the physically-challenged, however, will be free of cost.

The tenders invited will be opened on January 27.
