Pune V Adventure and Wild River Adventure is organising rare adventurous activities of white water river rafting and kayaking on river Kundalika. This green valley of Kundalika river is the only spot of rafting and kayaking presently available in Maharashtra. According to a press release, the river rafting and kayaking will be held on following dates: January 23, 24 and 25. The V Adventure is also organising a camp to Pench wildlife sanctuary near Nagpur for five days on February 16. Meet on water sector Innovations
The United States-India Educational Foundation is organising a workshop on "Innovations in the water sector" at Hotel President, Prabhat Road, from January 20-23. This will workshop will attempt to deliberate sustained efforts of various stakeholders to highlight importance of a management-oridented outlook that will replace demand or supply augmentation-oriented approach of the previous decades.

About 25 participants from various government organisations, research institutes, academia and NGOs as well as Fulbright scholars will attend the workshop. The sessions during the workshop will include papaer presentations on conflicts over demand and supply in the water sector, process/institutional/technological innovations that serve as instruments to bring efficiency, equity and sustainability in the water sector. In addition case studies to demonstrate wider impacts of innovation on domestic, agricultural and industrial water sector will also be discussed. The visit to model village on watershed development programme -- Hirve Bazaar, Ahmednagar district, will be the special highlight.

The workshop is a part of the Fulbright Indo-American Environmental Leadership Program, funded by the Public Affairs Section of the US embassy, New Delhi, to empower mid-career environmentalists to address contemporary issues related to environmental information systems, environmental education, policy and management, stated a press release

Abhinav wins
The Abhinav Education Society's English medium school and junior college, Ambegaon, (BK) Pune, won 11 trophies in different inter-school competitions organised by the Saraswati Education Foundation, Warje. There were 100 schools and 1200 students who particpated. The winners include: Shreya Joshi (singing-solo, first prize), Sayli Bansode (singing-solo, consolation), Afsan Shaikh (fancy dress, first prize), Afsan Shaikh (one act play, third prize), Dhanashree Kondhare (drawing, second prize), Radhika Shettiyar (solo dance, first prize), Anjali Nair (solo dance, second prize), Anurag More (essay writing, first prize), Anurag More (handwriting, consolation), Thomas Jishajos (handwriting, third prize), Abhinav Vande Mataram Group (group dance, second prize), Vinodkumar Bangale, feliciated for contribution in competitions. Rajeev Jagtap, founder-president of Abhinav, and principal Sunita Sharma congratulated the students. Vinodkumar Bangala, Suresh Udamale and Asmita Janrao organised the events, said a press note.
