Kiran, a national level basketball player, has been working as a Physical Education teacher with the school since 1993 after receiving training as a basketball coach from the National Institute of Sports, Patiala. “In the beginning, I was the caretaker of the NCC wing of the school. In 1995, I was sent for NCC Training at Gwalior and was appointed as ANO (Associate NCC officer).”
It is a moment of pride to talk about her cadets’ achievements. “Since 2003, our cadets have been winning either of the first three positions at the Republic Day Parade in New Delhi. I feel happy when students learn something new and come up with flying colours.”
Besides training NCC cadets twice a week, Kiran also dons the cap of a basketball coach. Commonly know as PT
and NCC teacher, Kiran says: “I feel disappointed when cadets refuse to attend NCC camps. I have to spend hours convincing students to attend NCC camps. Majority of the students keep in touch with me years after passing out from the school. This is the best part. To motivate students for learning new things gives me satisfaction.”
After a hectic day, Kiran finds solace in meditation. “I spend about fifteen minutes to meditate and plan for the next day. This helps me keep things in order.”
