Mukul Somany, Chairman, CII (East), said the budget was well balanced with a focus on growth and fiscal consolidation but added more measures should have been announced to curb inflation.
Sandipan Chakravortty, president, Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said the GDP growth of 7.2 per cent during 2009-10 was encouraging, considering the economic tumult of the past year.
S S Beriwala, president, Merchant Chamber of Commerce, said the government’s efforts to control inflation in food prices through focused development of seeds and pulses would be of great benefit.
Pavan Poddar, president of Bharat Chamber of Commerce, said: “The fact that a lot of importance has been laid on green revolution for the eastern region, especially Bengal, is a positive sign.”
